Tuition Freeze Details
The Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia (USG) today approved a tuition freeze for the 2020-2021 academic year. The policy applies to all 26 USG institutions, including Columbus State University. Students will pay the same tuition rates for the 2020-2021 academic year as they do now for the current 2019-2020 academic year. In addition, online tuition at CSU will also be reduced.
Move to Online Instruction
As you have seen in the campus announcement, the USG has announced that all instruction will be moved to an online format for the remainder of the spring semester. Due to the transition to online instruction, the spring semester will be adjusted by having classes end on May 9 with a modified finals schedule May 11-14. Grades will be due on May 16, 2020. Shorter term courses will be adjusted accordingly within this modified timeline.
We will be testing online instruction during the week of March 23-29 for those courses transitioning to an online format. Courses that were already being delivered fully online will continue as usual. Starting March 30, all of our undergraduate and graduate courses will be delivered online through CougarView. Further guidance around clinical placements and teaching practice coursework will be forthcoming.
Communicating with One Another
Communication is extremely important during this time of transition. Faculty and students should be in regular contact with one another through video conferencing, text, phone, email, and CougarView. Undergraduate students will also be able to use EAB to interact with their advisors, faculty, and tutors. It will be important to network and build a community of learners in each course. As we do this, we need to remain aware that not everyone will have easy and dependable access to high-speed internet. Flexibility will be extremely important.

We will continue to work together and support each other as we move forward with this new learning experience. Focus on your growth mindset as you encounter challenges and new ways of thinking, problem solving, and creating. I greatly appreciate all of the hard work, creativity, and innovation that you bring to Columbus State University. These are indeed difficult and challenging times, but I have no doubt we will have a successful and productive spring semester.
